Visual Arts at Tucker Road Bentleigh Primary School provides students with the opportunity to express their creativity through a wide variety of media. All classes participate in a weekly art session where imagination is sparked, personal expression is encouraged, and key art skills and techniques are developed.
Students create and make artworks based on their ideas, experiences, and creativity. They explore a range of artistic forms including drawing, painting, printmaking, textiles, collage, sculpture, and clay work. These are underpinned by the six key elements of art: line, shape, colour, texture, form, and value.
In addition to making art, students engage in art appreciation—learning to discuss, evaluate, and reflect on their own work and the work of others. They are introduced to a diverse range of local and international artists, fostering curiosity and cultural understanding.
We are proud to collaborate with our very own Artist in Residence from POSCA, who brings professional expertise and inspiration into the classroom. This partnership provides students with the unique opportunity to learn directly from a working artist and contribute to community-based art projects.
Student work is regularly celebrated through school displays and participation in community art competitions. Our Visual Arts program helps students develop the confidence and skills to communicate ideas visually, reflect on their experiences, and engage meaningfully with the world of art.
